16 American Win Gold at OVR Regionals
Coach Paul Tanedo led his 16 American team to victory on Sunday, May 22 and brought another Gold Medal in the OVR Gold Division back to SOVC stomping grounds. In 21 years of coaching at SOVC, Coach Tanedo has won 3 gold medals in the OVR Gold tournament, but this is his first for an American team. Team members are: Madi Eberst, Hannah Hall and Ashley Taylor from Unioto; Kelsie Bossert from Adena; Erica Marshall from Miami Trace; Lexi Smith from Portsmouth Notre Dame; Aiden Fields from Portsmouth and Lea McFadden from Paint Valley. Great job this season girls and Coach Tanedo. We are so proud to have you wearing SOVC colors.
17's TAKE Gold in Gold Division at OVR Regionals
Casi Coy, in her first year as an SOVC coach, has taken her team to the top in the 17 Regional Division at the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on Mother's Day.
Casi follows in the footsteps of Amy Ater Bush, Paul Tanedo (2), Jimmy Hutton and Janet Day who also took top honors in the same tournament in previous years. Today's win is the 6th in SOVC history. Team members include: Ashton Ward, Zane Trace; Samantha Ritenour, Miami Trace; Paige Kirby, Westfall; Darby Beavers, Westfall; Olivia Eblin, Chillicothe; Sydney Tackett, Chillicothe; Amanda McGlone, Unioto; and Abbey Winegardner, Unioto. Congratulations.
Ellie Harper (SOVC - Weasels - 12) Selected for "Future Select Camp"
The Ohio Valley Region added a new level to their High Performance program this summer. They are hosting the first "Future Select" Camp as part of their HP Training Camp. The Future Select group is the OVR's up and coming players who were born on or after January 1, 2004. The Camp will be held at Bowling Green State University, July 8-10. A total of 32 players were selected to participate. This camp is intended to give the players a feel for the High Performance program and an opporunity to get intensive training over a 3 day period with some of the best collegiate and club coaches in the region. The OVR hopes this experience will give the participatns a leg up when it comes time to tryout for OVR HP Travel teams or the USAV HP programs down the road. Congratulations Ellie! She's a WEASEL!

USA Volleyball is the governing body advancing the growth of volleyball in the U.S. The Ohio Valley Region, the largest in the country with over 1,000 teams and over 10,000 members, hosts a wide variety of tournaments, clinics, camps, and other events through which its members find challenge, growth as players and officials, and just plain fun.
The SOVC is a non-profit organization that offers girls (ages 10 to 18) the opportunity to play volleyball on teams consisting of players from other schools in all day tournaments usually within a 3 hour radius of Chillicothe. The goal of the SOVC is to field teams that are competitive in every tournament entered and to build on the players existing skills while teaching sportsmanship and leadership.
